This year for AB’s birthday, we focused more on celebrating with friends and family than gifts but of course we had requests of what she would like. We are so lucky to get some great hand me down clothes and toys from my brother who has a little girl a year older than AB so she honestly didn’t need much. But I did send a few ideas and thought I would share to anyone who is gift giving to a little one this year!
*AB has all of these and will vouch that they are well loved!
Tent
We eventually will build a play space for AB on the second floor but for now this tent fits in her bedroom and she is in it constantly! She loves to play peek-a-boo with the doors and has even crawled in to “read” a book by herself on occasion. This is also very well loved by our dog and he will usually sleep in the tent when AB goes to bed.
Radio Flyer
The radio flyer is a great gift that will last a while for AB! This model will grow with her up to a tricycle so I know it will get a lot of use. She loves to be in it and with the thicker wheels it can handle the terrain of the yard or our gravel driveway.
Crayons
This may depend on the child but AB will happily draw for thirty minutes before she attempts to eat the crayon and we have to change activities. (I know some kids will immediately attempt to eat them and may need to wait a little longer for this gift.)
Music Toy
While loud toys aren’t my favorite, I am okay with the non-battery ones. She loves banging on the keys and will play with this toy everyday.
Puzzles
The puzzles with knob tops are great for little ones hands and she loves dumping all the parts and trying to get them back together.
Practical Gifts
For the little one who has more toys than any playroom can hold, sometimes a practical gift is best. An adorable hooded towel, toddler dinner plate, or new sippy cups may be just right!
Books
You can never go wrong with books for little ones. These are two of our favorites: Never Touch a Dinosaur (a touch and feel book that’s pretty cute) and The Monster at the End of This Book (a classic and possibly one of my favorites to read her… in my best Grover impersonation!).
Sorting Blocks
She understands that the shapes fit in the holes but is still working on getting them in herself but she sure loves to try. I love this toy cause clean up is easy and the toy itself holds all the pieces.
